Vanessa da Silva Infante, PhD, RD, CDCES
I’m a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) with a PhD in Nutritional Sciences. I’ve spent my career translating nutrition research into practical strategies that work in everyday life.
My background includes:
- Over 20 years of experience in academia
- Author and co-author of peer-reviewed research, book chapters, and community nutrition education materials (view publications)
- Director of a CDC-recognized Diabetes Prevention Program
- Member of the American Diabetes Association’s Nutrition and Wellness Advisory Board
For the past decade I’ve been directly involved in both delivering and training others in evidence-based lifestyle interventions for diabetes prevention. This work has given me a clear understanding of what actually helps people prevent diabetes (and what is more hype than substance).
Why I do this work
This is more than just a job for me. It’s personal.
My own experience started with a gestational diabetes diagnosis, and years later, a prediabetes diagnosis. I know exactly how those first questions feel: What did I do wrong? What should I eat? Is this actually reversible?
I understand the instinct to overhaul everything. What I have learned, both personally and through years of public health work, is that lasting change doesn’t come from extremes. It comes from small, consistent shifts you can live with.
Who I work with
You might be a good fit if you:
- Have been diagnosed with prediabetes
- Want to lower your A1c without an extreme overhaul
- Feel lost in a sea of conflicting nutrition advice
- Are looking for a realistic approach that fits your life
I love helping people with prediabetes learn simple changes to manage their blood sugar. My approach is based on science and designed to fit your life long-term. You will not see me promoting fad diets, detox juices, or miracle pills.
If you’ve recently been diagnosed with prediabetes or insulin resistance, you may have been handed the “Just Lose Weight” prescription, or the “Eliminate All Carbs” advice. Maybe you’ve tried diets before, lost weight, and gained it back. Maybe you went keto, only to find it unsustainable and unsatisfying.
You didn’t fail — these approaches failed you. You deserve better than that.
